Behind the scenes

The stylists organised all of the outfits into the right categories before the shoot.

Danielle (stylist) used the tweezers to rip holes in the tights to get the desired look.

Carmen (stylist) did the make up for the shoot, she created slightly different makeup for each category.

These images feature two of the models in the outfits for the Mod section of the shoot.

Styling

Stylists Carmen and Danielle laid all the clothes out in the right categories ready for each model before they arrived. This allowed us to be organised so that the shoot ran smoothly.

Test shoot

These are the contact sheets from our test shoot, the test shoot didnt really work at all so weve decided to reshoot these images in a different way. The lighting was really poor in the corridor we were shooting in so we will have to shoot somewhere else.

Location scouting

These images are potential locations for our final shoot.

These stairs and landing are quite stark and could work well with the aesthetic we are aiming for.

This is a backyard, obviously it would need tidying up slightly before the shoot but it suits the sort of grungy feel that we are looking for within out images.

This is probably my favorite potential location, its really mismatched and quite old fashioned. Again its got quite a grungy feel to it and would work well with our snapshot aesthetic.

Polaroid

A friend said that i could lend their polaroid camera for the shoot, however we struggled to get hold of the right film in time and when we found a shop in Manchester selling polaroid film they didnt have the one we wanted.

Meeting with the group

We met up as a group to discuss styling options and the aesthetic we wanted for our images. The stylist had ideas of what they wanted for each section/category we chose and they wanted to see what we thought of there ideas, we also discussed where it could all be sourced from. With the aesthetic we decided we wanted quite a snap shot style and discussed simply using a flash gun and perhaps a ring flash, we also want to do a test shoot using 35mm film and possibly one on polaroid.

Thinking about our theme

I think that our theme could become quite cheesy and cliched if we dont do it justice, i think we need to be careful not to go too over the top with it. We need to make sure that we only suggest or make reference to the era and the stage of youth and rebellion we are looking at. For example there will be no Mohicans in the 80s punk section, that would be too much, and its been really overdone in the past. We aim to make subtle suggestions while still communicating our idea.
