Jon purcell's lecture

In Jon's lecture on thursday he asked us to think about education and write down any thoughts that came to mind about it, these are some of the things and ideas that i came up with when brain storming for this:

Culture

Economical

Degree doesn't guarantee a job like it used to.

Academic/Non academic

Constraint - are we constrained by education?

Careers

Decisions

Choice - do we have a choice?

Conformity

Groups

Student protests

Hierarchy/social structure

Pressure

Under/Over achieving

Environment

ADHD - by calming kids down does it stunt their creativity?

'Current system is designed for a different age'

Protest - why do we have to do some subjects and not others ie when we choose our options in school

Student groups

Tribes/religion

You can be educated in anything, education doesnt just mean school, college and university

Military

I personally think that we need to make sure we dont take the work Education too literally, I quite like the idea of being educated in life and the idea of learning as you grow up.
